COINER (Coin Sorting Machine - EURO version)

UPDATE 26.03.2017: I've added all Fusion 360 development files (f3d and step). Sorry for the messy organization ;-) This is a remix and optimized version of acilias great coin sorting machine. This version is modified to work with ALL Euro coins (1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, 1€, 2€). All parts have been modded and shouldn’t be combined with the parts of acilias machine. (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:149839) ####################################################################### SERVO MOD I also used a modded standard size servo instead of quite pricy gear motors. Here is a simple way to mod the servo: Simply desolder the wires from the poti and motor and then resolder the power wire (which were attached to the poti, directly to the servo motor. After that you need to grind off the notch which prevents the servo from over rotating. Thatt way you get a continous (in one direction) spinning motor. It probably will sping to fast for this use case. Therefor you'll need a voltage regulator to reduce the volts to about 2,8V in my case. May vary from servo to servo. Basically, a slower servo is better than a fast one. The connector.stl (which connects the rotor to the servo) might not fit your servo, since there a quite a few different servo types out there. In this case simply DIY something or tell me the needed diameter and I'll create another version (or do it yourself :-D). ####################################################################### ####################################################################### FINE TUNING You will need to fine tune your printed parts (mainly the coin slider), since every printer has different tolerances and also each filament different properties. With fine tune I mean the hole diameter for the coins. If the coin doesn't fit for the designated hole, then simply grind off a very tiny bit of material with a dremel tool. ####################################################################### ####################################################################### FILAMENT I used PETG filament from extrudr.eu for this project. ####################################################################### ####################################################################### PRINTER REQUIEREMENTS You will need a printer with 20x20cm build volume to print this. Check the print settings down below. ####################################################################### ####################################################################### ADDITIONAL MODS (optional) Depending on the used filament and the slipperiness properties, it may be helpful to improve the slipperiness. PTFE spray should be a good choice for that, since it's not greasy and messy. The angle of the slide plays a big role for this to work accurately (besides the fine tune). The actual angles of the base stand in this project work well for me. If you’re encountering sliding problems (to slow or to fast) or the coins getting stuck, try to change the angle slightly by adding something under the stand. The sweeps_complete.stl file was just a test. In the lastest design the sweeps are straight. Absolutely sufficient and printing is easier. ####################################################################### ####################################################################### COIN STOPPER No need for the coin stopper in this version (at least for me, it raises the risk of a jam). ####################################################################### ####################################################################### PARTS YOU'LL NEED FOR TIS PROJECT A few M3 screws 6-12mm Standard size servo Voltage Regulator Some kind of battery (+3V) Rubber band (used to bound the coin containers together for easier handling) Euro coins ####################################################################### ####################################################################### VIDEOS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoul8Sco7UQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxiP9QvUS6Y ####################################################################### Please post your printed machine and leave a feedback how it works for you. Thanks. Print Settings Printer: i3 Prusa derivative Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2-0.3 Infill: 0-100 Notes: HolePlate, Base, Sweeps: 0.3mm 20% infill Rotor, Connector: 0.2mm 100% infill Containers: 0,3mm, 0 Top Layers, 0% infill, 1 perimeter The containers are supposed to be printed with a thin wall. Most slicers have problems doing that. If the above settings don't print with 1 perimeter, try vase mode or the Simplyfy 3D Hack "Merge all outlines into a single solid model" under the advanced tab. Only if this pieces are printed with 1 perimter, they will be stackable. Post-Printing See the fine tune tips in the description.
