Waterless Solder Cleaner

Waterless Solder Cleaner

A holder that you can stuff metal wool into in order to clean your soldering iron of superfluous solder and flux. I personally tried using steel wool, the kind of thing you get in the supermarket for removing burnt-in crust from cooking pots which works just fine. It's cheaper than the brass wool usually sold specifically for this task. One third of a household steel wool sponge is sufficient for one load. I do yet not know whether this will do damage to my soldering iron yet, so try at your own risk. No matter what you stuff into that thing, it is superior to the classical sponge for two reasons: * No water involved → Less risk of oxidizing your soldering irons tip. * No water involved → No running to the nearest faucet, when deciding to solder something. I made mine from PLA. If you don't touch it directly with your soldering iron, you're fine with that. Better resilience against the iron's heat may be achieved by using ABS. But if you are missing that hole you're probably also missing the parts you want to solder by far ;) Enjoy!
