Cold Hold - Drink Cooler/Holder

The Cold Hold is a drink holder that keeps your drink cold while your drinking it. It has cold packs that press against the drink while its resting, but which retract once the drink is removed, creating a convenient space in which to replace the drink. The cold packs themselves are easily replaced, and stack neatly, so they don't eat up a ton of freezer space. There's mounting holes on the design, but tweaks could be made to the design if you wanted to embed it into a bar or poker table. If you do, please post pictures! Also see Corona Cold Hold Packs and Cold Hold Ice Pack Tray Video Post-Printing Build instructions You will need Krazy Glue and some sort of refrigerant gel to build this (water is not recommended as the expansion of the ice can cause the cold packs to fail). I personally use some noname gel from some corner-store ice packs. First, print out the base, two levers, and the cold packs. Cold Packs: Glue the pins on the side -- IMPORTANT -- double check the orientation before gluing them on -- it is possible to glue them on backwards. The pins themselves whoud be near the back of the pack. Use Krazy Glue to do this, and be sure to apply glue along the entire surface. Hold for twenty seconds to ensure it dries properly. After this, dry-fit the lids to make sure they fit comfortably in the ice packs. If they do not, you will need to take a file, and gently file the back and sides until it fits. Once it fits, fill the packs with your refrigerant, leaving 2-3mm of air at the top. Glue the lid into place. Be sure to glue the entire surface to ensure the gel does not leak. Its possible to put a second coat of crazy glue on the outside if your fist coat did not seal the packs. Levers: Dry fit the sides on, making sure they fit properly. When attaching the sides, make sure that they are on with the correct orientation (it's possible to glue these on backwards as well). Check the tabs on the bottom lever and the receiving slots on the bottom against print artifacts. Use a file or chisel to clean if necessary. Base: once the levers are glued, try snapping one onto the base. Make sure it rotates freely. If not, remove, and use a 1/4" (or 17/64") drill to smooth the hole out. Drill carefully from the side, to prevent breaking the 'snap' mechanism Assembly: snap one lever into the base, and lean it back. Place other lever in, interlocking the tabs on the sided of the arms, and snap the second arm in. The two levers should now move freely up and down, and should be locked at the same rate. If there is resistance, you may need to remove the levers, and smooth out the tabs and/or the receiving holes. Use: Once this is done, the ice packs can be chilled and you are ready to go. The ice packs can be simply dropped into place, and then the drink can be inserted/removed with ease.
