Collection of chains

Collection of chains

thingiverse

This is a large collection of chains (upto 9 meters) which can be printed in one run and are ready to use immediately. The links of a chain are placed in a spiral with a diameter of 15cm such that it will fit in most 3D printers. The links are put upwards with an angle that is as low as possible. Therefore most chains can be printed without the need of support. You will need raft, however, to hold the links in position while printing. The chains have the following variation: - wire diameter (2mm, 3mm, 4mm or 5mm); - the width of a link is fixed to 2.5 wire diameters (core to core); - link height (measured from the core of the wire); - chain length (which results in a number of links depending on the link height). Chains have a total length of one upto nine meters. Each file name gives the number of links in that STL followed by the total chain length in millimeters, the height of a single link (measured core to core) and the wire diameter. I used a simple script to generate .scad-files which were converted to STL-files using OpenSCAD.
