COMPLETELY REVISED VERSION 18-4-2021 - NOW COMPATIBLE WITH V4 AND V5 EDITIONS! (...and 'plastic' C128D support, quite literally.) One of the big advantages of the Commodore128 above its well-known predecessor C64 is that the 128 features two video outputs - one compatible to the C64 and one with the more serious 80 chars per line mode. Back in the days, you had to use two different cables when using both modes with a monitor like the 1084. Dutch retro enthusiast Sven Pook designed an adapter that feeds both signals into an ordinary scart cable, now even with S-Video (Chroma/Luma) support. See here here: https://c128adapter.pook.nl/ This case provides a shell/case for these adapter so it can be conveniently used. Both parts can be printed completely without any supports, and the lower half and top shell snap together without any glue or screws. Screws to fasten the 9-pin-connector are optional, but not mandatory. And I tried to keep somewhat faithful to the C128 design, so I used the original font and the side lines of the C128D case. Included are two top shells and four base plates that can be freely combined with each other: TOPS: - top_v4.stl: You guess it; for the V4 variant of the adapter. With only a 4-pin flat connector on the PCB. - top_v5.stl: For the V5 adapter with 6-pin flat connector on the PCB and LCA support. BASE PLATES: - bottom_c128.stl: Base plate with a foot matching the height of the D-sub connector of a the C128 with a keyboard case, and no internal disk drive respectively. - bottom_c128d_plastic.stl: Dito, but with an integrated foot fitting for the (rarer) C128D with a plastic case - the one with the carry handle, if you are unsure. - bottom_c128dcr_metal.stl: Dito, but matching the more common C128D with a metal case, also called C128DCR. - bottom_flat.stl: The base plate with no support foot, useful if you intend to use the adapter with a patch cable between the adapter and the D-sub 9 pin connector. Bonus feature: All base plates with feet have been unified in design, the feet now somewhat match the cooling slats on the front side of the C128-DCR case. NOTES: The V4 and V5 upper shells look virtually identical, but do not work very well with the wrong PCB version. The select switch is placed a little differently and the switch on the V5 version is bigger, so the cases wont close properly. The upper shell part prints upright on the rear side for the computer connector. I printed several without problems on a Prusa i3Mk3S, but I increased the bed temperature to 70 degrees Celsius for PLA. The flat lower part can be printed in the conventional orientation, the versions with a foot should be printed with the side with the letters face down. Prints work fine with 0.2mm layer height, but a 0.1mm layer heigth adds greatly to the look.
