Commodore SX-64 Plastic Caps

Commodore SX-64 Plastic Caps

thingiverse

The Commodore SX-64 was an early portable computer with a true full color CRT. Some still survive to this day and are treasured by collectors and hobbyists interested in preserving early home computing history. Unfortunately, many of them have lost or damaged the cap covers that protect the hinge mechanism and do not have a suitable replacement. There are a few different SX-64 caps in the thingiverse library. All of them attempt to recreate using simple primitives and fairly low resolution geometry. This version attempts to provide a more effective and aesthetically accurate solution. This is not an exact copy of the original design's fitment and provisions space for the screw head and softer fillets on the corners. For securing, I chose a few pieces of 3M VHB tape-which is an exceptionally strong and durable tape that can be used sparingly. I've also included the Fusion files, should you choose to modify these files. If you find additional changes and tweaks are improvements, please share your derivative work! These are free for all but not for commercial use (looking at you, ebay print exploiters). Enjoy and share!
