Add a compact gimbal and you come close to footage seen on much more expensive systems at a small fraction of the price. But the one big detractor when taking moving shots with gimbals is the dreaded gimbal bob that can spoil what could otherwise be great footage. This bobbing motion can be minimised with the skill of the camera operator but on uneven ground or on longer takes you’ll find that without some form of 4th axis stabilization you’ll have z motion artifacts creeping into your footage. My primary goal when designing the new Compact Pro Stabilizer was to achieve buttery smooth footage when shooting on gimbals with anything from gentle movement all the way to running full pace. And all this while being more Pro friendly. The current crop of compact Z or 4th Axis stabilizers only work well at a normal smooth walking pace and develop a harmonic bounce when speeding up or when slowing down. Essentially, they balance but they don’t really dampen the bounce. My already developed variable fluid damping cartridges in the full sized Pro 1 model solved this bounce but I wanted to make it even better. So after extensive product development and testing I’m extremely proud to introduce the new Pro Model Compact 4th Axis Stabilizer. The new design is a finely tuned piece of camera kit that glides effortlessly on 9 high quality bearings, it removes bounce with a new high-tech variable fluid damping cartridge and the geometry has been further optimised to give the best possible 4th axis motion reduction. I’m seriously chuffed at how good it works - it’s a major improvement in compact camera z axis stabilization! If you’re a content creator then this should definitely be in your kit bag. The adjustable fluid damping inherited from the full size Pro 1 has been further improved with the addition of highly specialised synthetic shock absorbing fluid that can quickly adjust to take you from the softest motion to those running like crazy to keep up with your talent shots! This kit include the two different payload adjustment springs - the 375 spring which suits more typical compact gimbal and camera rigs weighing from 7 ounces to 2 pounds (200g to 900g) and for heavier payloads the 371 spring goes from 1 to 3.8 pounds (500g to 1.7kg). For pro use I wanted to be able to quickly change my rig on the go between shots with tool-less adjustments and when the shoot was over I wanted it to pack down small. I also wanted to expand the range of uses with modular add-ons such as a handle that takes the Zhiyun Remote Control. The Compact Pro Kit has dual adjustable grips with a built in stand so you can put your stabilizer down between takes - if you’ve ever held a fully rigged Ronan up for any more than a few minutes you’ll know how much you wished for a built in stand to rest your arms! The kit also comes with all the necessary tools for changing springs or for fine tuning. I’m unapologetically excited about this Compact Pro Stabilizer Kit as there’s nothing else out that stabilizes close to as well in as many different types of scenarios as this does. Now, I’m no pro camera operator by any stretch of the imagination and even with a dodgy knee I can get great results. I can’t wait to see what you guys produce with it!
