This is a fairly small worm gear reducer, but it should have about a 20:1 reduction ratio. The high speed shaft utilizes taper bearings, but the slow speed shaft just uses ball bearings. The housing is only open on one side. Hence it only needs one retaining plate- many of the reducers that you see would have two (one for each side).
