Cone Rolls Uphill

Cone Rolls Uphill

Set the diamond-shaped cone at the bottom of the ramp and it appears to roll uphill. Read this in the October, 1944 issue of Popular Science. Instructions Print out two of each piece. Glue the two cones together to form a diamond shape. The ramp pieces attach to each other to form a large, diamond-shaped ramp with the highest point of the ramp in the middle. I haven't mounted this one, so the one pictured is just held up with some clay to test it. Even though warping was an issue, it works! You might want to try making the pieces a little bit smaller -- it took a few tries to get each ramp pieces to print as it barely fits across the diagonal of the Makerbot build platform. You could also try laying the ramp pieces on their side in order to print them. That should leave an even smoother ramp surface for the cone to roll on, and a larger surface area on the platform for the build.
