<p>These are models of conic curves systematized by Apollonius of ancient Greece.</p><p>Using this model, it is easy to see that circles, ellipses, hyperbolas, and parabolas can be obtained from a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollonius_of_Perga#/media/File:Conic_Sections.svg">section of a cone</a>.
