This is a control horn for RC planes. Embed the control horn into the flaps and control with a steel rod. This design is customizable through the Customizer app. Print Settings Printer: Any Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 - 0.3 mm Infill: 40+ Notes: Print with a stiff material (PLA, ABS, PETG) Increase for strength: -Thickness -Infill -Resolution (Higher is stronger) PRINT LYING DOWN. Post-Printing Post Print: Make sure both sides of the control horn are clean and flush. If you printed the model without the attachment holes, get the rod and heat it up with a lighter or candle. Push it through the place where you would want to attach the control rod. Wait 10-15 seconds until the plastic has cooled down, and rapidly remove the hot rod from the print. Take a scalpel or a craft knife and shave the excess plastic that has formed around the hole, make sure everything moves smoothly. You're done! How I Designed This Need for Parts: This part was designed for my senior RC plane project for Physics 12 at Elgin Park Secondary School. We had a shortage of control horns, so I was tasked with designing a 3d printed part. Learning the Software: I didn't know any CAD softwares and I had to learn OpenSCAD from scratch. Through many iterations of the model, this is the final design that I have chosen.
