Controller for Joe's Drive

Controller for Joe's Drive

This is designed as a direct replacement for the controller designed by Joe Latiola and included with his awesome Joe's drive for BB units. While the design components are similar, most of them have been replaced with different components due to size limitations. I've included a bill of materials with the files. Wiring - I followed the same wiring diagram as Joe's original controller. However, you will need to be careful to keep wires as short as possible and routed in a way to minimize bulk. This controller is very compact and doesn't have a lot of extra space inside. I routed wires under the feather attachment point. I also connected all the ground wires and tucked them next to the main joystick. I did the same for the power wires. Main Joysticks - due to space considerations, I removed the angled pins and soldered my wires directly to the back of the PCB. I also trimmed the outside edges of the PCB with a Dremel tool to clear the back plate before installation. (Note: the photos are of the first version of the design. I adjusted the attachment points for the right joystick in the current version.) PSP Joysticks - although it may not be necessary, I trimmed the ears off of the PSP joysticks. Attachments - attach your feather board with double-sided tape. I also used hot glue to hold the PSP joysticks and the OLED screen in place. The buttons are held in place with the button clips. I printed these on my FDM printer.
