The Convair B-36 "Peacemaker" was a strategic bomber built by Convair and operated solely by the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1949 to 1959. The B-36 was the largest mass-produced piston engine aircraft ever made. It had the longest wingspan of any combat aircraft ever built. These aircraft had a very long range and were designed to fly to a target in the Soviet Union. They had a crew of 13. These aircraft were very loud and were often tasked with overflying fourth of July celebrations. They had also been known to break windows and crack plaster when flying too low over a building. This aircraft was extensively used by the Strategic Air Command. This aircraft was made even more popular with its use in the Jimmy Stewart movie “Strategic Air Command.” 36G/YB-60 was a project for a jet-powered swept wing variant.
