The Convair YB 60 lost the contract for a long distance all jet heavy bomber to the Boeing B 52. Its components where easier to manufacture due to its commonality with its forerunner the Convair B 36, indeed it is more than noticeable that many of its parts share a common heritage to its former stall mate. Unfortunately its overall performance was little better than that which sought to replace, placing at a disadvantage to the all new B 52
