This is a nightlight that shows simulations of Conway's Game of Life. The enclosure prints as a single piece without supports. The power supply is a standard Apple Cube USB charger that snaps into place. The display is an Adafruit i2c LED Matrix module, and the microcontroller is an Adafruit Trinket (3.3 or 5v, doesn't matter). Print Settings Printer: Powerspec Replicator Clone Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: .2mm Infill: any amount Notes: This is best printed with Natural or Clear PLA, something that will let most of the light from the LED matrix through. There are very minor overhangs on the USB charger clip, but there shouldn't be anything too challenging. I printed with 20% infill, but feel free to adjust this to get different looks for the front face of the light. In Makerware, the model comes in oriented correctly, even though Thingiverse's 3D view seems to turn it on its side. For the record, it should print upright, oriented the way it is shown in the photos. How I Designed This I created this model in Blender, making liberal use of boolean, mirror, and solidify modifiers to keep the design nimble during the prototyping process. My original blender file is included as well.
