This was my first attempt at using a 3D program ( Autodesk 3DS max 2009 ). The main task of this project was to develop my skills/knowledge base, redesigning three household objects using the above 3D program. An Ornamental Oil Lamp, Decorative Chair and a Cordless Drill where replicated using three methods - Lath, Loft, and Extrude. The Ornamental Oil Lamp proved to be a challenge for the 3D Max program. Many programming anomalies occurred during the construction of the model, mainly on the use of the Boolean technique, which is used primarily for cutting holes in solid surfaces. This problem may have been resolved in the more up-to-date version of the software. All the objects actually exist, therefore I was able to refer to them and make accurate measurements during the construction on the program. This proved invaluable, being able to create almost perfect 3D facsimiles.
