Corinthian Columns Chess Set This is a new original design chess set composed of pieces created using inspiration from the architectural, column, and helmet designs hailing from the ancient Corinthia region of Greece. This set is designed to be printable on a 3D Printer with no supports. Note: Due to the relatively large size of the M12 mutter(nut) used and the relatively little plate contact of the large King, a brim is recommended for the King. Otherwise, you might become a bit frustrated if it goes for a walk 3 hours or so into the print. Each piece has a cutout for an M12 mutter (nut) to be inserted for weighting. The dimensions of the M10 are appx. 21x19x10 mm. The depth of each cutout is appx. 10.4 mm to accommodate the 10mm depth of the nut, The chart in the pictures area lists the appx. weights and height of each piece with the nut inserted and a 3mm thick Felt (filz) base attached. The pieces fit well with a Square Size of 45 to 55 mm. Chess Piece Box The box has a slide top and is sized to accommodate this set. Details • Square Size 45 to 55 • Total Weight of Chess Pieces 1003,9 gm • Weight of Box 319,30 gm • Box Dimensions 200x140x90 • Total Weight of Chess Pieces and Box 1323,20 gm • Chess Pieces 32 Printing Each piece can be printed standing straight up with no supports required. Make sure your machine is well calibrated (leveled) for printing the box and you may want to run the bed a little on the hot side to prevent warping on the bottom and/or lid. Not a problem with a well-tuned MK3S+. The box was printed using • Filament PLA Prusament (Galaxy Black) • Infill 15 % • Layer Height .30 The chess pieces were printed using • Black PLA Prusament (Galaxy Black) • White PLA Prusament (Vanilla White) • Infill 15 % • Layer Height .15 Quality Weighting the Pieces and attaching felt • Insert the nut into the base of the piece • Apply some glue (model glue works well) to the base and nut • Put the glued surface lightly on the felt piece, don't press too hard • Allow to dry • Trim excess felt (Nail Scissors (curved tip) work well due to circular base.)
