Although the summary says “Quick and easy picture framing” these clamps can be used for any right angle cornered woodworking job.

Cut the mitres (or butt joints), apply the glue and place the clamps at the corners. Tighten the string and leave to set.

I used something similar to these in the 1980's when I worked as a picture framer at a photographers' studio but I've never seen them marketed since. Of course you can pay serious money for fancy ones but these are Cheap'n'cheerful and work every time.

All you need (aside from the printed parts, of course) is a length of ordinary string. I wax my string, running it over a candle to grease it for a smoother running action but you don't even have to do this.

Print with PLA or PTEG (etc) through a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.15mm layer height, 15% infill - no supports or brim. No clean up.

If you print the blocks on their sides (for speed) you may find a lot of drooping on the bridging layers. Printed on their sides (as these files are oriented) the whole set prints in about 2h34m.

Feed the string through the blocks and tie to the end-hole of the ‘griplock’ piece and you're good to go.

Regards, Paul.
