Cornet Valveless

Cornet Valveless

thingiverse

This is a valveless cornet (bugle) built from a cornet model with the valve assembly replaced by a transition tube. • The original cornet CAD model was created by myself in Fusion 360 based on my Bach CR310 cornet. This cornet has a 11.66 mm (0.459") bore size and I have increased the tubing thickness from 0.75 mm to 1.5 mm for 3D printing. I included in the model two mouthpieces, a #349 Cornet and a #K349 Mega Tone Cornet. • Based on results given by David Gibson in his paper "Novel Designer Plastic Trumpet Bells for Brass Instruments", http://dx.doi.org/10.14236/ewic/EVA2016.3, I have modified the bell flare thickness from 0.75 mm to 4 mm in an attempt to better match the plastic vibratory response with that of brass. I print the thicker bell flare with a 25% fill to further improve the thickness to mass ratio. The original bell flare model is also included for comparison. • Once I am satified with the tone of this valveless cornet, I will be releasing a cornet assembly with working valves based on the same CAD files. Have fun printing :)
