Charles Rudy (1904-1986) received his inspiration for this sculpture from a 1927 April issue of National Geographic Magazine. For reference, he removed an image of the hen out of the magazine. A large amount of Rudy’s work focused on the subject of animals on his farm, which also served as his studio in Bucks County, PA. For more information on Charles Rudy, visit the Michener’s Bucks County Artists Database.
