This project was to develop a handheld gaming / multimedia console. The console had to be a standalone unit. that is portable and does not need to be connected to a separate screen. The unit should allow the user to play games, watch DVDs, play music and surf the net. I also had to consider screen, button, media bays and connection/charging points. The design should also take into consideration the space/position of internal parts such as circuit boards, button pads etc. The outer casings will be made in injection moulded plastic. The inspiration for this game console design came from an angle poise lamp discovered in a local shop. The lamp had a base shaped like a French croissant. The shape was so distinctive that it was decided that it could become the basic part for the console. I would like this concept prototyped for my company Premier Product Design Ltd, PPD LTD is a dormant company at the moment awaiting clients. The prototype could help in gaining notoriety and it would be a visual / talking aid for future presentations.
