Based on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1874648 but fully rebuilt (because of model artifacts I could not get rid of as easily as rebuilding)

This 40-pin GPIO cover is based on the dimensions of the source thing.

The remix is:

4 pins exposed: pins 8, 10, 12 and 14, for use a UART on pins 8, 10 and 14.

Ground indicator, for plugin in the UART cable correctly

Pin1 indicator, so I don't accidentally place wrong side. (as if ;) ) Some people asked me; "why a 4-pin connector on 8, 10(, 12) and 14 while pin 6 is ground as well? could have used a 3-pin connector on 6-10".
My answer is; because now I still have the option of either using or providing 5v from or to the Pi on pins 4 and 6.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 5

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.1

Infill:

20%

Filament:
REAL PLA Orange

Notes:

I have printed it with .1 layer height without supports so the bevel is as smooth as possible.
With a .2 layer height, some parts of the bevel have more than 45 degrees overhang, possibly resulting in jagged edges.

with .1 layer-height on .4 nozzle, I found I can easily print 70 degrees overhang, but it might not work out for you. (In that case, use supports, or accept the slightly jagged edge)

Alternatively, print with the "pins" side down, but I like the glossy finish my glass plate + 3D Lac give ;)

final note

If you like it, click the like (heart)
If you print it; post a make
If you have suggestions for improvements, questions, any kind of remarks; leave a comment

Looking at the download statistics, you guys and gals out there really like this thing :) so, leave a like, a make, a comment.
Much appreciated!

Category: Electronics
