CR-10 / Ender 3 Extruder Motor Frame with Rubber Grommet Holes

I modified ZestyTech's extruder frame so that I so that I could enlarge the holes to fit rubber grommets that I got from Lowes. I added rubber washers between the frame and the gantry and under the gantry for extra insulation. This helped reduce the noise from the extruder motor especially when using linear advance. I did notice that along with making sure my belts are tight, this also helped get rid of the weird wave pattern I was seeing in some prints. Update ---------- • 2019.04.07: New reinforced version to reduce sagging caused by the motor. This one mounts under the gantry instead of on top. Hardware ------------- • (4) M3x8 or M3x10 socket cap screws (depending on the depth of the motor screw holes) • (3) M3x20 socket cap screws • (10) M3 metal washers • (3) M3 nylon lock nuts • (6) 00 rubber washers • (7) 3/16 x 1/2 x 7/32 x 5/16 rubber grommets Installation Notes ----------------------- • Do not over-tighten the screws. You just want then tight enough to be secure, then maybe an additional quarter turn. • The diameter of the grommet holes will be larger than the M3x20mm screws. Just position the mount so that the screws are centered in the holes then tighten the lock nut enough so that the mount will not shift around. See picture to see where I added the 00 rubber washers. • You'll want to use a metal washer between the rubber washers/grommets and screws/nuts.
