CR10 EXTRUDER - SPACER/WASHER FINAL UPDATE 6 DEC 2018 My Extruder just die! It was a good death! A warrior death! He die during a print. Rest in peace my friend! I replace my extruder with a full metal one! The King is dead! Long live the King! I paid the fabulous amount of... about ... 7 - 8 gold doubloons... or some time called euro! https://www.optimusdigital.ro/ro/piese-imprimante-3d-altele/813-bloc-de-aluminiu-mk8-fara-varf.html?search_query=mk8&results=5 22 NOV 2018 - See the print with the new spring adjustment! 21 NOV 2018 - Experience some delamination. Add one more 1mm - therefore I extend my spring with 2mm. It is OK now! Will see! 12 NOV 2018 The final result is great! Design for CR10 equip with original Extruder MK10 , however, can be used on any 3d Printer with similar extruder design ! If you experience under-extrusion / delaminations, this is a possible solution to fix it! . . . . . Look deeper! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . All shown parts are printed in ABS. See the difference of printed parts before and after the extruder's spring modification. Read my instructions below and see my learning curve! Keep in mind, this part it will improve only your extruder capabilities ! You have to take care of the rest of the factors that affect a print ! ... I was checking all the check points for a good print, however with bad results: I replace the print nozzle, the Teflon tube, the tube connector, the silicon sock for heater, test different types of filament, drying the filament before printing, printing in an enclosure where I have a temperature over 70C, heated bed - my print bed reach 110C, special printing surface, reducing the print speed... and list goes on! ( from the Angry Check List) 11 NOV 2018 - 3 Looks like everything is fine. For my printer the "1mm washer" suffice. 11 NOV 2018 - 2 I was too confident to take my own advice... Rachel was right: Bigger is not always better. After one hour, my extruder malfunction. The excessive tension generated by the big spacer (add 4mm) was too much for the extruder! The extruder crush/grind the filament, and everything stop. My printer keep going... however, not printing! The nozzle was fine, no obstruction... was working good in next test! I replace the big spacer (4mm) with first stage washer - 1mm Looks ok now! :) We'll see! Vanity... definitely my favorite sin! 11 NOV 2018 - 1 I print and install the SPACER on the Extruder. It is now visible in tension... I can't say to install it as I did, be aware that it may damage your extruder. What I can say is that for me it is working, and I am ok with this alteration from original! Keep in mind ... this is not a magic wand, you have to ensure that all necessary measures for a good print are taken. See my PS angry check list below! Are two more spacers - 1 and 1.5 mm . See what is the best solution for you... Can be used one on each end of the spring. This way you can combine and have: 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 mm. Start with one, then two... mix them...then as the last option...use the big spacer (is going to add 4 mm) Test each step. Take your time. Do not force the parts!!! Bigger is not always better! Rachel Green If it doesn't fit... don't force it! Charlie Harper PS Keep in mind that I was checking all the check points for a good print, however with bad results: I replace the print nozzle, the Teflon tube, the tube connector, the silicon sock for heater, test different types of filament, drying the filament before printing, printing in an enclosure where I have a temperature over 70C, heated bed - my print bed reach 110C, special printing surface, reducing the print speed... and list goes on! When frustrated, tired (it was 2AM) and angry I dismantle the extruder and extend the spring (using a player). After that, time stop... birds start singing... I can see the rainbow and the end of the rain in a single drop of water. The End! 9 NOV 2018 I am not exaggerating when I say that I was close to take my printer and throw it out the window, hoping it will land on my neighbor car... Just kidding... the neighbor do not park his car below my window... not anymore! I have a new experience with this modification on the extruder. Before it was like that... if printer want to do a good job... ok ... a good print. If printer was tired and a little drunk... a poopy print! Have a look at the new results! Print in ABS PS Just kiding. I got no neighbor... is missing for few months now....*** 8 NOV 2018 When all your prints are bad and under-extruded... maybe it is ... your extruder. Again poop-yyy prints... I dismantle my extruder... force with a player the spring... extend it a little , so more force will be apply to the press gear... and... what do you know! My printer start to print again! Mather-Father! That poopy little part... give me such a bad time! For all CR10 owners, with original Extruder on printer, if you experience under-extrusion / delaminations, a possible solution may be to extend your Extruder Spring. Disclaimer!!! Do it at your own risk! Damage may occur to your printer! I will design a SPACER/WASHER to be mounted between spring and ROLLER ARM! As soon my print plate will clean! :) A lot to print! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3192968 *** No neighbors or other types of animals were harmed in the making of this 3d part ! Or at least police was not able to prove it... and no body was found... 'till now! The Neighbor from Hell is a fictional character... This is just Print Up Comedy ! Dark Filament type!
