When modifying my CR-10 to be direct-drive filament feed, I decided to mount the filament spool above the printer. In order to maintain a straight-through filament path and keep the filament sensor functionality I designed a sliding bracket and filament sensor cover to enable me to mount the sensor on the top cross bar.
