Due to space restrictions I moved the spool holder from it's original position on top of the control box to the gantry (like Ender 3 models). This gave me the flexibility to slide the control box out of the way when not using the printer and allows me to position it to anywhere convenient when I am printing. I've run it successfully like this for a while now but the filament was causing elongation in the body of the filament sensor unit due to it'd steep entry angle. This prompted be to make a fairlead to bring the filament into line with the sensor and extruder. I thought about pulleys with ball bearings but spotted the idea to use the modified gear bearing as a pulley. The elegance of this caught my imagination so I designed a bracket to slide over the X stepper, which is a very good fit but I've included a hole for a M4 grub screw for added piece of mind. The wheel is secured to the hex with an M4 screw and washer which can be pulled up firmly to nip the centre gear to the standoff on the hex shaft that allows the planet gears to turn freely.
