Updated 06/10/2020 This design complements and expands upon the excellent learning opportunities offered by the 3D Benchy. It prints rapidly, utilizing only 1.4 meters of filament scraps in the process. On my settings, it completes a print in just 24 minutes. The test allows for stringing and minimum layer print times to be evaluated between spires and column. Bridge testing was added in June 2020. A large diameter smooth tube provides a means to check retractions and random versus aligned seams. Work on blobs and zits is also included. The overhang extends all the way out to 75 degrees. The sample shown is made from ABS and was printed without supports. The column serves to maintain extrusion pressures, preventing the arch from being pushed down. Dimensions: Large Tube: 3 layers thick (with a .4mm nozzle), 8mm high, 50mm OD. Small Tube: 1 layer thick, 10mm OD, 8mm high. Small Tall Column: 5mm OD, 4.2mm ID. Overhang Print Arch: 12mm wide. Short Spires: 20mm high (vanishes to point). Tall Spire: 28mm high (vanishes to point). Bridges: 3mm wide, 1.2mm thick, various lengths. I operate four xyzPrinting DaVinci original series machines (1.0 and 1.0A) on Repetier firmware. I specialize in mechanical parts, printing almost exclusively solid objects. My work is limited to ABS material. I maintain a channel called "Crafted Channel" on YouTube. Photos of actual prints pre-date the addition of small tube and bridge test.
