Crates The Fire Wizard

Crates The Fire Wizard

cults3d

His name is Crates, pronounced Crate-Eez, like Socrates or Hippocrates. This was one of my old step dad's DND characters and he was a philosophy professor. When I was about nine, I begged my old stepdad to teach me how to play D&D. His response was to help me build a level one fighter (that I named "Thor The Terrible") and then take that level one fighter through Castle Amber. Yeah. If you've played Castle Amber, you can imagine how gnarly that was. If you haven't, it's basically like throwing a toddler in the deep end of a pool and figuring it'll be a great way for them to learn how to swim. The only thing that kept Thor The Terrible alive was his wizard buddy Crates, the DM-run character who, as I remember it, seemed to have any unlimited number of fireball spell slots and the ability to cast healing spells and an unlimited number of resurrection spells. Sadly, my old stepdad passed away in 2015 at the young age of 45. He and I lost contact after he and my mother divorced in 1999, and so I don't think there's any way I'll ever be able to track down those old character sheets, but at least I can immortalize his character here and offer the sculpt up for free with a little story to inspire you. Enjoy, and who knows, maybe the great Crates will be the perfect guide to lead you through your next adventure. Requires supports, but they're minimal and easy to peel off. If you like my work and want to see (and print) more of it, please consider stopping over at my online miniatures store at Punkin' Figs. All of my 3D printable releases are printed before release to insure that they print well even on a simple, starter FDM printer.
