I was annoyed by the fans of my printer, so I started replacing them. I found the concept of the fans in the control-box not good, and I wanted to use a bigger PC fan. So I removed all fans of the control box. I removed the base plate/bottom of the power supply, so that the fan I mount from the bottom can blow directly into the power supply and the other areas at the same time. After that I used tape to close the first half of the slots at the side of the control box (see pictures). The concept of my design is that the fan pushes air into the control box. Some of the air flows to the very top and some to the bottom through the PSU - as the fan is positioned. than the air goes to the back of the controllbox where it is released. I testet the design with some smoke and it works good. The main advantage is that you only need one 120mm fan. First I used an enermax magma. But I ended using a BeQuiet PurePower I had laying around. The BeQuiet is an excelent choice as the air pressure is high enough and its quiet at the same time. The first print (white) was just a "proof of concept" to see if everything fits. Thisone I printed with 10% infill - which is NOT enough (I hat to use some tape to fix it) To print I recommend cura with cubic subdevision as infill method and support only touching build plate. I neededd around 550g of PLA while using 80% infill. The result is unbreakable :D I attached my gcode so that you could directly print it out with an CR-10. Just make shure to adjust the temperature while printing to match your filament. You can use the screws of the original base plate, no need to actually buy something else than the fan. To connect the new fan you can use a Wago 221-412 connector or solder it, but the best option is a Noctua OmniJoin Kit (noctua.at/de/omnijoin_adaptor_set) which was included in another fan I bought for my cr10 (Noctua NF A4x10 FLX). Let me know what you think! Thanks Hans
