This tool holder allows the user to inspect the printer nozzle and feed tube for signs of any blockages. The printers 'hotend' is fully illuminated by the white LED's making any checks necessary easy. Once the printer nozzle is removed, you can see into the feed tube to check if all is clear. The battery case is based upon a design by dikodahan. He uses 14mm sq. clips available from various stores (Amazon & eBay) to complete the battery circuit (spring and plate contacts). The switch cut-out is 9mm x 4mm for miniature slider switches available from stores such as eBay/Amazon. The LED's are 5mm dia. white 3 to 3.3-volt forward voltage types. This allows them to be used without the need for current limiting resistors and are soldered together using strip Veroboard. The mirror is 1.5" sq. and can be obtain from any craft supplier store, held in place by double sided tape. The inspection tool makes checking the 3D print head much easier. Once the print nozzle is removed you can check the hotend chamber for blockages or build-up of PLA. The whole design was completed using RS Designspark Mechanical 3D design software, available free to download and use - no hidden costs or subscriptions. It allows you to get the dimensions accurate to suit the parts you want to use in your design.
