So these little guys are the creatures of thingiverse. Then come my desire to create a customizable creatures that can become as diverse as its users want. So this will be an ongoing project of adding more pieces to create all different types critters. So I am hoping to get lots of people involved in adding parts to their collection or give them accessories and decals. So, give them a lives and stories of their own to tell. Designing to me is very much about sharing and feeding off other people. I just wanted to do something very community based and get myself to model something for myself and others as often as possible I am going to try to add a new piece ever 2 days or so. This is the first iteration. So fellow members if you want them bigger (there around 2in x 3in x 2in) let me know and let me know about how much detail I can model in. I was debating one with scales but didn't want to cause hardship when they didn't show up well in a print due to size same goes for hole tolerance. Also if more joints and moving parts are wanted I might do a ball joint version. I will need testers for this undertaking.. I will take piece requests too. So if you want a crazy tail or something or another body type drop me a line it will keep me creating. So print the pieces and create your own creature give him or her a name . Make them in different colors. Paint them decal them. And show them off. Try making some glow in the dark with a black marker design. It really up to you. There here for the fun of it.. There a desk toy you can point at and say I made that or an army of little minions to do your making bidding. Anyway that is if for now feel free to ask question. Create a story or world for them. Make an animation out of them physical or digital. It all about open source do what you want with them. Just put it up so everyone can see and feed off it! Instructions So Instructions... Pretty much print and clean up and decorate how you see fit and plug the pieces that make your creature yours in place. I currently have 3 different tails, 3 types of ears and 3 types of mouths for this 1 head type and 1 body type and some hair you will need to glue the hair. I will be adding head types and body types and other pieces to it in the future and encourage other to add to it too. If you want it to look like a cool resin like art toy some sanding will be needed so you can add cool design on a smooth surface. So the disclaimer I am 3d printer less at home so I haven't been able to print them so if there are any issues let me know. I am use to dealing polyjet and zcorps for work but I can't sneak these in with work prints... They stand out to much and I dont think my boss would like to be billed for them..hehe. But I have checked the meshes and they come up at solid and such so hopeful no issues. They are currently tight fits for the pieces if you need this adjusted let me know I included a step for people as most software can take a step (check your import settings). Also I have eye decals if you print these on a white sticker sheet and cut them out you can have eyes for your creature. I will add more when I am more in an illustration mood. You can get them to be more eye like by coating the top with some clear nail varnish. That's all for now. If you print them and have time feel free to add to the instructions. Also show off your print and process! UPDATE: New Step file has been added where parts are orientated flat and apart for your printing need. If I need to add supports some tips will be need. Update: Zip of all parts today now uploaded. Update: 10/26/11 Upload and update on the body as it seem the tail hole was missing.. (very sorry) Also new tail.
