Cricket Waterer

Cricket Waterer

Crickets are stupid. They need water to live, but if it's more than a drop or two they'll dive in and drown themselves. I have tried the gel stuff, a water dish with a sponge in it, etc. but have never found a good solution that doesn't dry out too quickly at the temperatures the crickets prefer, until I made this. The holes in this waterer are small enough to keep water from running out, due to its surface tension, but if you line the tray portion with something fiberous, the fibers will draw out enough water for the crickets to drink from without drowning themselves. I just folded a paper towel to make several layers, and cut it to fit. Props to ippe for the bottle cap design -- I'm not good enough with any of the CAD programs yet to have managed the threads myself. :) This thing was made with Tinkercad.
