The battery life is approximately 10 years and it can be replaced if depleted. CRONIOS can also be connected to a PC so there are numerous ways for personalization and configuration. Setting the clock to daylight saving time (DST) is no problem for CRONIOS because it switches those automatically. A PC-based configuration program is included as well. Several parameters like color, brightness, and the duration of effects can be adjusted. Simply attach CRONIOS to your PC and configure it according to your personal preferences. CRONIOS is a designing experiment. CRONIOS uses bright state-of-the-art digital RGB LEDs. Everyone of the 60 LEDs comes with its own digital PWM controller. Hence, every single LED can have a distinct color and brightness. Its power is provided via the USB interface. In addition, it can also be used to configure the color profile. CRONIOS can also be configured in a more direct fashion: a rotary disk recognizes that you want to change CRONIOS’s appearance—you could try a new color profile or simply set the timer when you cook an egg.
