Cross Country Ski Heel Plate

Cross Country Ski Heel Plate

thingiverse

This thing was created for my dad who loves cross country skiing. His heel plates are worn out and so we figured the geometry would be easy enough to reproduce on our FDM 3D printers. I made the spikes a little more aggressive than I imagine the originals were when new but they have yet to be tested, so that may have to be adjusted. I printed it at 0.06mm layer height (stock 0.4mm nozzle) so each layer would get that re-melt bonding and the slopes were nice and smooth. We figured PLA would be worth a shot in this case since it will be used in the cold, so as long as it doesn't get super brittle and shatter, it may be fine for something that wears down anyways.
