Crutch Cup Holder

Crutch Cup Holder

I designed this crutch cup holder for what appears to be standard-issue crutches with 0.750" diameter tubes. The cup holder has two holes built into the design that 8-32 screws will thread directly into. The length of the threaded portion of the screws should be no more than 1.000", but about 1/8"-3/16" less thread should be fine. I would shoot for 1.000" of threads, though. I only ever installed one screw which proved to be enough. I have beat the crap out of the crutches and cup holder over the past month or two and have had no issues with only one screw. Prior to attaching the cup holder to the crutch, thread the screws in and out of the holes to help form the threads in the plastic. It will make installing the cup holder easier because you're going to have to use a stubby screwdriver when you install it which is hard to apply force to since the handle is small and you'll be working between the crutch tubes. The inside diameter of the cup holder is designed for a Hydroflask 16 oz Coffee with Flex Sip™ Lid coffee cup (https://www.hydroflask.com/16-oz-coffee-with-flex-sip-lid?color=black). The fit is so tight that it takes a few seconds for the coffee cup to slide down into the cup holder as the air from below the coffee cup needs some time to travel past the cup and escape out the top of the cup holder. If the crutch falls to the floor, the coffee cup won't come out. You can even hold the crutch upside down and the cup will stay in the cup holder. This is perfect if you like to get a little crazy on your crutches. 12 oz and 16 oz cans, pint glasses, and other vessels also fit.
