Cryptex!

Cryptex!

thingiverse

This design was inspired by a competition idea posted by Everythingmechanical on the Make blog. The creator has learned a lot about 3D modeling and Sketchup while developing this concept. It features a two-part inner tube, a two-part outer tube, and five tumblers for assembly. An SKP file is included for those interested. Although unproven, the instructions are provided to assemble the lock. Plates 1 and 2 combine to create the inner tube, while plates 3 and 5 make up the outer tube. Tumbler plate 5 should be secured only after testing with the inner tube. Users can mark the tumblers' faces according to their desired combination. A modified version of the tumbler (plate 5 v1.2) is also available, featuring two-part design for reconfiguring values. Another update includes plate 5 v1.1, which has multiple pick grooves to enhance security.
