This fully functional cryptex is your first 3D-designed model. Follow these instructions: place the rings around the body, ensuring the groove at the rim aligns with the handle. Mark each flat space on the ring for desired key letters above notches, excluding small ones. Assemble and glue the cap ring to seal the letter rings. Glue pegs inside notches of inner cryptex body using super glue. Insert a note inside, close it up. Note that pegs should align with ring curvature; filing may be necessary for fit. Add spacers between letter rings if needed. Included notches prevent lock picking. Print the inner and outer bodies with large ends at the bottom. This design is untested without a 3D printer, so share photos upon printing! Updates have been made since original upload; ensure you have latest versions of files. Sketchup files are also available for modification.
