Umbilical and filament guides are crucial for frame and print head, ensuring they stay vertical and providing a consistent feed. 4mm OD PTFE filament tubes can be included as part of the umbilical, particularly for the first half as shown in the photograph. Leave the other half free to facilitate smooth filament loading and unloading. Make sure fan cables are properly seated in grooves under the head component before tightening it down. Note that cable ties pass through the hole used for the rear bolt, so ensure you tighten everything before attaching the two cable ties. There are two versions of the head end component: TallFilamantHolder and LowerFrictionFilamentHolder. The latter has guide tube spacing matching the frame end, while the former is a bit less functional but provides wider tube spacing. If you experience issues with filament feed, use the LowerFrictionFilamentHolder. Secure the thing to the extruder head using M3x60mm Cap head stainless bolts. You can reuse the existing support bolt at the frame end. For alternate filament guides, visit http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1339162 for more information.
