My main focus was to keep the part count down, and keep the assembly as configurable and expandable as possible, while keeping the assembly relatively simple. The assembly is comprised of 2 pairs of 2 different unique parts. Therefore, you only have 2 different parts to print, making it easier to manufacture while making it easier to expand to multiple cube assemblies. The cubes are designed with slots going two ways, horizontal and vertically within the cube. This allows you to stack the electronics in the traditional vertical method and in multiple cube assemblies, modified electronic boards could be mounted along the long side of the cube assemblies, spanning across multiple cubes. The cubes are infinitely expandable with the top and bottom panels being optional. This was designed with plastic additive manufacturing methods in mind. Calculated mass in nylon is 116grams and 118grams in PEI The cube assemblies are fastened together by simple roll pins. It uses 4 pins per single cube assembly and uses 4 pins to attach each cube assembly to the next. These roll pins could be substituted for screw fasteners, but I drew it with pins for easier manufacturing, ( no tapping needed ) The bottom and top panels could also be laser cut if more cost or time effective.
