CubeSat Jonathan Stokes

CubeSat Jonathan Stokes

grabcad

This design is aimed at individuals who just want to print an easy 3U cubeSat that can be printed quickly out of a light effective material. The Fused Deposition Modeling technique would be the most effective, with a strong plastic such as Nylon. The CubeSat was designed to also be more reliable than its alternatives. The hinges on the solar panels are much stronger than the simple hinge used on other models. This reduces the risk of the solar panels not deploying. The panels can also be tensioned so that they deploy automatically without the need of an actuator after the cube sat is deployed. The hinges are designed to also "lock" against the main body of the CubeSat ensuring a strong deployment. The housing uses a stack technique to allow the CubeSat to be assembled using no fasteners or bolts. In the end this design is a very simple reliable design that has the potential to become a standard for those looking to make their own CubeSat using 3D printing technology.
