Instructions For example, in the image we have created a single cube, a 2x1 unit, a 2x2 unit, a 2x2x2 unit and a 4x4x1 unit. These units can be used in conjunction with Chip Trading (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chiptrading/id521568609) in learning binary. In this configuration, these block are binary base blocks. We have all used base 10 blocks in our quest to teach place-value concepts. Not only do these blocks extend our base trading games and concepts of place value, they introduce the importance of the binary system in electronics and computer engineering. Children learn how the string of 0'™s and 1'™s are really a sort of on off system, which opens up a whole new understanding of how things work!
