This couple could be considered an original creation by the 17th century restorer Ippolito Buzio. Inspired by the famous Hellenistic sculptureal group of Cupid and Psyche, the sculptor fashioned his own version by assembling together various fragments of ancient marble statues. Cupid is holding a bow, to represent his classical icon.
