Cura is a complete slicing solution for RepRap 3D printers. It contains a 3D model preview, GCode generator, and GCode sender in one easy to install application. Designed to make 3D printing easier and more fun. Instructions Cura started out as a free-open-source hobby project for the Ultimaker. As a cure for ReplicatorG with Skeinforge with it's 260 configuration settings. Many people liked it for it's simplicity and ease of use. So Ultimaker hired the developer of Cura to develop it faster and furter. Now Cura is the offical software from Ultimaker. This does not mean people with RepRap printers are left out, it still supports any step-extruder based machine that supports 5D GCode. And many people are using it on their Prusa Mendels or Printrbots. It also means that Cura is by no means going closed source. Cura is and will remain Open Source.
