Curtain Rod Hanger

This is a rod hanger that is capable of

holding even heavy curtains (something like 350g/m²) on a curtain rod

fits small curtain eyelets

can be installed quickly without taking the whole thing down to fix one part

doesn't fall apart when pulling curtain to the side daily (unlike those folding metal rings)

folding the curtain in a wavy pattern in “storing” position (so it takes up less space) while also being able to use the entire width in “open” position

The hanger is suitable for rods with diameter up to 24mm. The curtain eyelets must have at least a diameter of 8mm to fit the bolt.

Clearly it's making use of the ingenious herringbone gear however I needed to completely redesign it from scratch in Fusion 360 which was fun and educational. I was actually a little surprised that I could get away with this small size and still get full axial load-bearing capacity without issues.

Printing

I used PETG with default PrusaSlicer settings 0.20mm Quality.

No supports needed.

If you want to be especially safe, use your favorite abrasion-resistant filament for the bolt since the metal eyelets may wear it. I wouldn't worry too much since I've had no issues after almost a year using vertically printed PETG ones.

Assembly

Just drop the “hanger” part onto the rod.

Slide the “bearing” part in. It has a grove on one side that should clip in and stay fixed.

Bring the curtain close and put the “bolt” through the larger hole of “bearing”, then the eyelet and finally you can simply screw it in both threads at once.

Note that the bolt will only fit one way correctly. This is so it can be inserted quickly.

I recommend tightening only using hand force. If for some reason, hand force should not be enough (or it gets stuck during eventual disassembly), it also has an M6 allen key receptacle.
