Curtain rod mounting bracket

Curtain rod mounting bracket

We had a kitchen fire and all our curtain rod brackets were thrown out with the window trim. The curtain rods survived. My wife didn't like any of the replacement brackets available, so I offered to design custom replacements. This has been working nicely while we wait for the kitchen remodel. I printed the first one in wood PLA filament and a second set in black ABS. Both work just fine, but the ABS wasn't as tight sliding into the mounting bracket as the PLA because of shrinkage. The wood filament worked very well with the models provided. Both ABS and PLA held the rod tightly. The brackets are 20mm wide. I printed 2 each of Bracket.stl and BracketSmall laying on their sides with Cura set to chop off the bottom 10mm (see cover picture). That way you end up with 2 halves. Glue the 2 halves together and sand the seam. Then print 2 copies of BracketMount.stl and mount to the wall with wood screws. Your choice to print them laying down or standing up. Just don't over tighten the screws if you print standing up or it will split on the layer lines. There are no setscrews. The curtain rods snap in and are held tight. I'm providing the FreeCAD model so you can customize the model for your curtain rod diameter. The center of the circle where the rod sits is slightly below the top of the bracket so the rod snaps in place. The larger the circle, the deeper that center point needs to be. Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Maker Select 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 50% Notes: Print 2 copies. Lay one on the left side and the other on the right side. Offset the bottom 10mm so each half prints 10mm. Glue the resulting halves together. This way the mounting grooves turn out nicely without requiring supports. Print the BracketMount.stl either laying down or standing on the flat end (the STL is standing on the filleted end, so flip it). I've printed it both ways and they both work. Just keep in mind if you print standing up, the screws will split the mount if you overtighten. How I Designed This Designed in FreeCAD.
