Custom Glass Bed Clamp

thingiverse

This is a customziable glass bed clamp designed in OpenSCAD. It can be configured in many ways to fit different glass and printer sizes, with or without under-bed / over-glass brackets. #### Currently provided STLs ##### Mount Anycubic Ultrabase to Tevo Tornado * **Tornado Ultrabase Clamp Basic - Left/Right.stl:** * A very basic version. Sufficient if glass and print bed are even (no z-wobble). Minimal supports required (for screw notch only). * **Tornado Ultrabase Clamp Default - Left/Right.stl:** * The default version. Adds an additional bracket below the bed for a tighter fit. Sufficient if glass and print bed are even (no z-wobble). Additional supports required. * **Tornado Ultrabase Clamp Basic High - Left/Right.stl:** * Basic version in high format. Adds an additional bracket on top of the glass (to keep it down). Use if print bed or glass are uneven / wobbly. Supports: Same as Basic version. * **Tornado Ultrabase Clamp Default High - Left/Right.stl:** * Default version in high format. Adds an additional bracket on top of the glass (to keep it down). Use if print bed or glass are uneven / wobbly. Supports: Same as Default version. * **Tornado Ultrabase Clamp Default - Demo with Bed.stl:** * Demo of Tevo Tornado print bed with Default mounts and Anycubic Ultrabase. #### History When I started there was no Tornado Ultrabase bracket on thingiverse (that I know of), So I took the basic idea of _jasobrino66's_ [tevo tornado clip cristal 30x30](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2772727) and decided to make a customizable version that would, among others, fit the Tornado Ultrabase setup. My initial plan was to add an option for an additional slice around the glass edge like in _Sking296's_ [Tevo Tornado Glass Bed Tensioner](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2722668), but I stopped and postponed my work on this since I wouldn't use it myself due to the additional supports that would be required (most likely resulting in a bad surface quality). After finishing the Basic and Default version, I tested both and they did the job (tight fit, no horizontal movement). I then discovered that my print bed is a bit uneven so there was a need for an additional bracket that would pull the glass down. That's when I discovered _SimonFrick's_ newly added [TEVO Tornado Ultrabase Upgrade](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2782720) and I copied the idea to simply increase the height of the whole bracket, making the print much easier (compared to adding only a small attachment), at the cost of some additional material and maybe some print head clearance around the bed edges (both OK for me). #### The OpenSTL File I cleaned up and documented all the basic modules and functions, but there are still too many parameters (I had to many variations in mind) so it could be a bit tricky to configure. As a result the _PrintBedClamp_ module itself is pretty messy, especially since it's basically a box using print bed, glass and screw facsimiles to make the cutouts ... which is overkill and unnecessarily increases render time. But it works for my current use case so I left it as it is for now. Maybe sometime in the future I will rewrite this part.
