Custom Mouth Stick

This customizable mouthstick will work with capacitive tablets such as the iPad and Android devices if printed with conductive PLA and a conductive sponge is inserted in the tip. I am still working on tweaking the open scad files, but it prints okay. This is a mouth stick designed as assistive technology for a person with no use of their hands, and is used to type on keyboards, flip pages in books, and to dial phones. When printed with a conductive plastic it will work with capacitance touch screens such as the iPad, iPhone, and Android tablets. The one I printed is made with Protopasta. There is a conductive foam tip installed in the end to made it more responsive. I used a small piece cut from a fresh, unused ScotchBrite sponge, but any conductive sponge will do. Once the mouth stick is printed, it can be custom sized and bends made by heating it up with a heat gun. For more information on assistive technology, visit http://www.rehabengineer.com, or our agency at http://rehab.alabama.gov/ . Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Normal Infill: 20% Notes: Your ability to print the full length will depend on your print bed size. I have had to position this on the diagonal to get it to fit my print bed. Post-Printing Conductive Foam and Bend to Shape After installing a conductive foam, the mouthstick may be heated and bent to make it easier to type.
