I have done some modifications to make it the way I want it. Actually the only things that are left from the "original" thing is the x/y bearing blocks, motor mounts for x/y and the lengths of the aluminium bars. I would avoid buying any prefabricated plastic parts, so I designed my own x/y carts and hot-end mount. I am driving the steppers at 24V and have a seperate 12V PSU for heating (bed and hot-end) and powering the Arduino. The end-stops are reed swtches encapsuled in custom made brackets sealed of with glue (just to try something else than the usual mechanical contacts). I use Ramps 1.4 with DRV8825 drivers and it just runs nice! I have cooked up a little video showing a print of the gear set shown on the pictures: https://youtu.be/pUc8rXbl3aM All my custom parts are included here. The bushings used are: http://www.spyraflo.com/products/self-clinch-self-align-sae-840-bronze/FSB-8M The heat bed is held up by 4 pcs. of 30x30 mm aluminum extrusion with lengths of 180 mm The fan duct used for the hot-end is under sources.
