Customizable Hand-Weaving Curved Shuttle

Customizable Hand-Weaving Curved Shuttle

thingiverse

This is a shuttle for hand-weaving or lap-loops. This was a request from my mother, who wanted a shuttle a little smaller than the one that came with her loom. Print Settings Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Infill: 100% Notes: This is a replacement for what would normally be an injection-moulded part. It's only a few millimetres thick, and it needs to stand up to a fair bit of handling. I recommend printing it solid (100% infill). If you have problems with the ends of the shuttle curling off the print bed during the print, open the "printing-assistance" section of the Customizer and set Pad Height to a value equal to twice your layer height. For example, if you are printing with 0.2 mm layers, set Pad Height to 0.4. This adds pads to the ends of the shuttle. The wide pads should adhere well to the print bed, keeping the model flat during printing. When the print is complete, snap them off by bending them back and forth until they break.Because of the curve of the shuttle, you may need to use a knife to remove them cleanly. How I Designed This This design makes use of the OpenSCAD Bezier curve library by William Adams. Since the Makerbot Customizer does not work with include files, I copied and pasted the necessary functions into my scad file.
