Customizable Heel Lift

Customizable Heel Lift

A heel lift is a simple foot orthosis. It is used to correct a leg length discrepancy, which can cause all kinds of physical problems like lower back pain, scoliosis, improper gait, bad running mechanics, and increase your rate of stress fractures. This component is part of an open source lab library, by the Michigan Tech's Open Sustainability Technology Research Group. For similar see the Open-Source Lab How to Build Your Own Hardware and Reduce Research Costs Instructions Heel lifts are not overly expensive – but tend not to be very customizable. This one is! If you already use one that works, but want more for all your shoes and don't want to spend a bunch of money – just measure it and input your values. If you don't have any now measure your heel and take a guess at your leg length difference. The beauty of these is you can print out a bunch and experiment until you 'feel like your level'. If you try this out and it works – please let me know or add suggestions for improvement. It would be particularly cool if someone merged this design with the open-source foot orthotic here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:46922
